Rainy Halloween Fun!

Just because it is wet outside, it doesn't mean it has to be dry inside!

By Craig Snyder Publisher Boyertown, PA September 15, 2021

It's Halloween weekend and there is some rain in the forecast. Let's not let a little rain ruin our Halloween Spirit! It is a perfect time for spooky indoor fun!

1.   Making Jack O' Lanterns

One of my favorite Halloween activities is to carve pumpkins. We went to our favorite local market, Frecon Farms market in Boyertown, to pick our pumpkins. Once we got home we setup our crafting table with newspaper to catch our mess! The best thing to do first while carving pumpkins is to cut open the lid. Important Note: Make sure you leave yourself room for your hand to scoop the seeds and pumpkin pulp. If you are like my family, we definitely save the seeds for roasting and eating! Yummm! Once your pumpkin is cleaned of seeds and pulp time to draw your design on your pumpkin. We like to use a Sharpie marker. Once your design is drawn, carefully cut around your lines. Once everything is fully cut, carefully push the parts toward the inside of the pumpkin. Once the Jack O' Lantern is completely cut out, clean all the excess parts out from the inside. To make it extra spooky, light a tealight candle or use and LED candle and put it inside the Jack O' Lantern! We have lots of fun carving out Jack O' Lanterns! We want to see your designs! Please email them or share to our Facebook or Instagram page!

2.   Halloween Arts and Crafts

We spent a lot of time at the craft table this Halloween! There is nothing I enjoy more than watching my kids get creative! Halloween is a fun time of year as there are no limitations. You can get scary, cute, spooky and fun with all of your Halloween creations! We painted pumpkins with Iron Man colors, a self portrait, Frankenstein's Monster and even a cute sugar skull! Below is a picture of our spooky Halloween wreath. To learn more about this craft, please click the wreath.

3.     Family Halloween Movie Night!

Time to pop some popcorn, make hot chocolate, and get cozy under your favorite warm blanket! There are so many family friendly Halloween movies out there to enjoy with your family. Our must watch Halloween movies are classics like Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas and my absolute favorite, Monster House. We always make a point to add new movies to our library as in The Addams Family 2, The new remake of Under Wraps on Disney+ and Nightbooks on Netflix. A special note: This movie is rated PG however I do not recommend children under 12 to watch it. A very good spooky movie just in time for Halloween but is a tad scary for the younger crowd. As we have already mentioned, there are many family friendly Halloween movies to enjoy and we only barely scraped the surface. We would like to hear your favorite Halloween movies to watch with your family!

There is lots of indoor Halloween fun to do with your family with the unpredictable weather this weekend! Please share all the fun you had this Halloween! Please email or share to our Facebook and Instagram page!
